Stumbling Stones
Frýdek-Místek
Karel Pavlík, Antonín Vaculík, Heinrich Wolf, Julius Huppert, Anna Huppertová. These five people used to walk the streets of our city. Let’s remember their tragic fate through cobblestones with brass plates set in pavements.
The Stumbling Stones project by the German artist Güntera Demniga is since 1992 focused on Holocaust victims, when the first stone was set in Cologne. Since then the artist’s foundation lets the cobblestones (dedicated to the victims of the Nazi regime) be installed.
On the brass plates you can always find information on the inhabitants who used to live or work in the city.
